A Consuming Experience

Blogging, internet, software, mobile, telecomms, gadgets, technology, media and digital rights from the perspective of a consumer / user, including reviews, rants and random thoughts. Aimed at intelligent non-geeks, who are all too often unnecessarily disenfranchised by excessive use of tech jargon, this blog aims to be informative and practical without being patronising. With guides, tutorials, tips - and the occasional ever so slightly naughty observation.

Posting this for the 2.3 people who haven't tried the Pew Internet & American Life Project's quiz to see which category you fall into, in their "typology" of information and communications technology (ICT) users.

What kind of user are you? Are you an Omnivore, Connector, Lacklustre Veteran, Productivity Enhancer, Mobile Centrics, Connected but Hassled, Inexperienced Experimenter, Light but Satisfied, Indifferent or Off the Network? Take the quiz.

(And those interested can also read their press release and report A Typology of Information and Communication Technology Users, released on 6 May 2007: "Half of all American adults are only occasional users of modern information gadgetry, while 8% are avid participants in all that digital life has to offer".)

No surprise, I'm an Omnivore. Based on the Pew Internet Project's profile of people in this group, I'm male, aged 28, and a student. So now you know. Heh.
