A Consuming Experience

Blogging, internet, software, mobile, telecomms, gadgets, technology, media and digital rights from the perspective of a consumer / user, including reviews, rants and random thoughts. Aimed at intelligent non-geeks, who are all too often unnecessarily disenfranchised by excessive use of tech jargon, this blog aims to be informative and practical without being patronising. With guides, tutorials, tips - and the occasional ever so slightly naughty observation.

Here's a video of a clear and helpful presentation on mobile data and the networks (essential viewing for mobile developers, I think) by Sam Machin, who happens to work for Orange, though this talk was in his private capacity as a mobile developer in his spare time.

He provides very interesting and useful insights into how the mobile networks deal with data (at least in the UK), including the good, the bad and the ugly of the services that developers can (or can't) tap into, covering issues from access and security to identity and charging, at mobileCampLondon 2007, 29-30 September 2007 (33:12):
